Background: The Nelson's syndrome refers to a broad spectrum of symptoms and signs that result from ACTH (ACTH)-pituitary macroadenoma treatment after bilateral adrenalectomy. The spectrum of clinical symptoms were observed, the local impact of the tumor to surrounding structures, in combination, the secondary loss of other pituitary hormones, and the impact of high alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH), another derivative of the proopiomelanocortin (POMC The precursor peptide that is derived from ACTH) in the skin. The first case was reported by Nelson et al in 1958.
